My Story:
Hi! I'm Loni. I am so glad that you've stopped by to get to know me a little better. There are thousands of talented photographers in this industry, but what matters most to me is that I am able to build lasting relationships with my clients. There is no greater compliment in the world than to be able to share milestones with individuals and families over time.
Why I do what I do:
I love capturing moments of joy. There is beauty in each moment, it is my job to find the proper light and setting to get that spark of life through portraiture. I can't say that I was a natural born photographer with a slr camera in my hand since birth. What I can tell you is that I have taken my training from various other forms of "The Arts" and translated my passion into photography through a great deal of training and hands on experience. I can confidently take on just about every photographic assignment that I desire because I have dabbled in virtually every genre that has sparked my interest as I traveled my path of photographic education. I am a huge advocate for continued education and if I ever feel that I "know it all" and can no longer grow I will simply put on my lens cap because that is when I will have lost touch with reality!
What sets me apart:
As I mentioned, above: I was not a photographer from day one. What I WAS from day one is a creative visionary. I could foresee the complete scene I would like to portray, it took many years of study and application to get to the point where I was able to present the image in camera that I had foreseen in my head.
My training and education comes from the world of the Theatre and Literature. That is what I hold my degree in. (Yes, I did just end that sentence improperly to demonstrate that once there is an understanding of the rules that is when they may be bent or broken!) I spent a great deal of time on stage, in the spotlight. Yet, the skills that I gained from backstage are what I use daily. I worked in the costume shop, the make up room, in lighting, directing, set building and publicity. These skills are what I incorporate each day toward my session preparation and production that make my images special.
I was incredibly blessed to work as a Plus Size Model with agencies in Las Vegas, NV & Los Angeles, CA. I was able to collaborate with some amazing photographers, stylists and make up artists. This was also when I began branching out, first acting as my own make up artist and personal stylist and later gained some clientele of my own. It was also through this time in my life that I truly came to understand how perception is reality. I was approached by so many women that had the 'if only' mentality about weight, looks, age, etc. And I began to act as a supporter for various programs to encourage female empowerment. Body acceptance is a major hot button issue with me, and I continue to work as an advocate for all women to accept and LOVE themselves as they are!
As a mom I hope that I am able to instill that confidence through my children, especially my daughter.
We live in an image-centric society, and I want there to be more to the images I present my clients because of the experience that they have from beginning to end. There is no goal too big, if you put your mind to it and take one step at a time to achieve it. Thank you in advance for being a part of my journey!
Why I want to work with you:
Photography is more than just a hobby, a sideline or an extra grab for cash. It is MY ART. It is something I'm very passionate about. I love that I can personalize each session to be something truly unique. I love that I get to meet the incredible people that I'm blessed to meet each day through my business. I'm grateful for the amazing clients that have become dear friends.
